We are a custom commercial photo lab specializing in silver gelatin printing, digital scanning and custom framing. We offer archival pigment printing, photoshop services, tailored darkroom and capture workshops (digital & analog) for groups and individuals at all skill levels. 

Darkoom Facilities

North Bay Silver Lab is a 400 sq foot state of the art darkroom facility. Enjoy private instruction by a master printer with 20+ years of experience.  We offer basic, advanced and mural printing courses tailored for all levels of photographic experience. Pro photographers from across the country utilize our facility to fabricate museum quality exhibition prints.  We house the following equipment:

  • Custom modified, wall mounted Omega D5XL enlarger with an Oriental Cold Light Diffusion Head (closed Loop) 35mm, 6x4.5, 6x6cm, 4x5 film holders

  • Six 40x50 inch stainless steel sinks, built in 30 inch rinse jets and under sink chemical capture for reuse of chemicals

  • Three vertical archival print washers (11x14, 20x24 & 30x40 sheets of paper)

  • 240 square feet of drying racks for fiber print drying

  • Electrostatic Film Drying Cabinet

  • Ilford 2150 Ilfo-lab for RC proof printing in under 60 seconds, 20 inches by any length

  • Rollma 50 inch electric roll paper cutter

  • Four bladed enlarging easels up to 30x40 inches

  • Nikkor and Schneider lenses from 50mm to 150mm focal lengths

  • Finger touch water temperature control and a Zone VI Compensating Developing Timer

  • Gra Lab timers at each sink workstation

  • Wall to wall rubber floor matts and a 660 watt filtered air exchange system for hours of air quality comfort during extended darkroom sessions

  • Quality Sound System for your audio pleasure

  • Dedicated film washing station and film changing room

  • RC Print Dryer 20x24

  • 30x40 trays for selenium and sepia toning

Darkroom Day Rate Schedule:

  • $200 orientation fee for first timers (2hrs)

  • $150/1st hr + $35 each additional hr

  • 4-hour minimum

  • $200 chem fee for developer or fix (5-gallons each)

  • 2150 Ilfo-lab RC Print Processor ($250 chem fee) processes up to 1000 8x10 prints, 2 weeks of processing (for multiples sessions) before chemistry expires

  • All chem fee charges subject to change at time of booking due to fluctuating supply chain issues.
